COURSE OVERVIEW
During this workshop, you will explore the exciting mark-making qualities of monoprinting and hand stitching on fabric to create a set of small fabric collages. Monoprinting is a joyous serendipitous process, that allows you to be freer and less controlled in your approach.
The wonderful surrounding landscape will be your source of inspiration, gathering information using simple sketches and notes and encouraged to look closely and in detail.

We offer online courses and in-person courses.Once back in the studio, these marks, colours, textures and patterns will inform your prints, using reductive, additive and drawn techniques.
These layered fabric prints will be appliquéd to produce a set of small collages. There will be an emphasis on experimenting with colour combinations, scale and proportions to create exciting and bold compositions.
The final stage of creating the collages will be to add hand stitching.
Hand stitching is incredibly versatile, adding layers and building depth through additional mark-making and embellishment.
During the week, you will have one-to-one discussions on developing personal pathways and possible future directions you could take. This course is suitable for everyone.

Amarjeet Nandhra is an artist and educator, originally trained in Graphic and Printed Communications.

Monoprinting is a joyous serendipitous process, that allows you to be freer and less controlled in your approach. The wonderful surrounding landscape will be your source of inspiration, gathering information using simple sketches and notes and encouraged to look closely and in detail. Once back in the studio, these marks, colours, textures and patterns will inform your prints, using reductive, additive and drawn techniques. There will be an emphasis on experimenting with colour combinations, scale and proportions to create exciting and bold compositions.She went on to gain a first class honours degree in Creative Arts. She has exhibited nationally and internationally , both independently and as a member of Studio 21 Textile art and Textile Study Group .
Amarjeet’s teaching experience covers a range of courses; printmaking, mixed media and contemporary stitched textiles.
She has taught at Diploma level, City & Guilds and Adult Education, both in Spain and the UK.
Her current practice explores the narrative of cloth within a social, economic and cultural setting. This work examines the hidden meaning, looking beyond the aesthetic sensibility of these textiles.
Print, mixed media, and stitch provide the foundation to express these ideas.
